Comforts of Home

Leaving the comforts of home.  Sounds like an easy task, right?  Well for 41 students and leaders from our ministry area, that’s exactly what they will be doing as they leave the Chicago area behind and head to Nicaragua for 10 days.

This is not your typical summer vacation.  Sure, threre will be some time to bask in the sun.  However, it's not called Project SERVE for nothing.  Our group will spend most of their days serving the local YFC chapter.  They will be helping to lead Campus Life clubs and Vacation Bible School.  They will roll up their sleeves to help upgrade a new space for YFC Nicaragua.  And they will be bringing some much needed Campus Life training to the local team.

Nicaragua isn’t a new destination for our Project Serve trips.  This will be the third time we’ve taken a team of students and leaders south of the boarder to work with the same YFC team there.  The unique perspective of returning to the same site allows leaders and students to see the incredible, life-changing impact God is having through their continued service.  As the years have passed, we have seen firsthand the impact on the scope and size of the YFC ministry here

Not only is it exciting to see how God is working in the lives and ministry of the Nicaraguan team, but a trip like this provides an experience of a lifetime for students and leaders alike.  By serving side-by-side with national leaders, they will be challenged by Christ in their service.

The students on this trip come from many different backgrounds.  Some on the trip already know Jesus and are walking with Him, but there are many who don't.  We are praying that this trip will draw ALL students closer to Him.  That this will be a life-giving trip as well as a life-changing trip.  And that while our team builds lifelong friendships with each other, they will all be challenged to become more like Him.

Please join us in praying for our trip!
